Meet the Assistant Principal
Dipa Thakkar
My name is Dipa Thakkar, and I am honored to be a part of the administrative team at Freeman Elementary in the role of assistant principal again for the 2024-2025 school year. Throughout my life, I have always had a deep affection for children and have been involved in working with them in various capacities. I spent over 16 years teaching all grade levels from Kinder through 4th grade in Frisco ISD. I consider myself fortunate to have collaborated and learned from exceptional educators, administrators, and staff during my years in the field of education. While I loved and miss being a classroom teacher, I am genuinely excited for another year serving our Freeman Family and eagerly await the arrival of our Tigers. I firmly believe that education is a collaborative effort, and through our combined efforts, we can ensure the highest quality educational experience for all our students.
Our goal at Freeman is to meet the academic and social & emotional needs of our students by making learning fun, yet challenging and equipping students with the tools that they need to develop their interpersonal skills. We hold high expectations for all and believe in providing a safe, structured learning environment where students feel free to take risks and understand that mistakes are part of the learning process. We believe that the natural curiosity of kids should be nurtured and encouraged in guiding students to becoming lifelong learners who become critical thinkers and collaborative members of society as they strive to reach their future goals and pursue their dreams. While academic growth is crucial, we also believe that kindness and character education are important and aim our focus on developing the whole child.
My husband, Amit, and I have been married for 27 years and have been residents of Texas with our two children for the past 22 years. Our daughter, Shefali, attended Texas Woman's University, and our son, Shawn just graduated from Baylor University. Our family also includes our beloved dog, Scout, who brings us all immense joy and is indulged in every way possible. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and pursued my education at the University of MD and St. Mary's College of MD, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology. Subsequently, I received my master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of North Texas and completed my Principal as Instructional Leader Certification requirements.
In my leisure time, you will find me organizing themed gatherings to experiment with innovative culinary creations, reading mystery novels or psychological thrillers, watching HGTV, food network or romantic comedies, exploring different cultures through travel, shopping or attending Broadway shows with my daughter, and cheering on our favorite sports teams with my guys. I cherish spending quality time with my family and friends trying new restaurants, listening to live music, solving puzzles/murder mysteries, or playing board games. Thank you for trusting us with your precious children. We welcome your partnership and feedback in order to create the best possible learning experience for our students. Please feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions or concerns. I am proud to be a part of Carrollton Farmers Branch ISD. It’s going to be another fabulous year at Freeman Elementary! Let’s go Tigers!
